Character: Camilla "Mila" Edgeworth (Miles Edgeworth)
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Lawsexual.
Appearance: She's actually rather short (5' 6"), broad, with a strong jaw and thin lips. Her facial appearance is a bit "boyish", and her gray hair is cropped short against her head in the back, with longer sections to frame her face in front. However, she wears makeup most of the time, usually eyeliner, shadow, and light lipstick. Nothing too heavy.
She often wears heels to keep herself eye-to-eye with the detectives and officers she works with. Her suits are tailored after the style of her erstwhile mentor, Manfred Von Karma: magenta skirts and pants finished by a closely fitting jacket, black vest, white shirt with a bit of frill at the cuff, and a white jabot. When she isn't wearing this, she's usually seen in white dress shirts, black slacks, and vests. She spends a bit more time on her appearance than her adoptive sister, but never to the point of wasting time over idle vanity. She rarely wears jewelry.
In contrast to her original universe version, Mila is a few inches shorter, and a bit slighter, and though her clothes are tailored and a bit "masculine", she is very clearly female.
Personality: Mila is, generally speaking, rather calm and stoic on the outside. She's deeply analytical, logical, and can usually keep her wits about her in any situation. She can, however, be sarcastic and condescending, is cocky at times, and has a bit of a temper that she tries very hard to keep in check. She tends to avoid the press (due to the unfortunate nickname "Demon Prosecutor" they labeled her with), and even coworkers and friends at times. Having separated herself from her feelings for so many years under Von Karma's tutelage, Mila sometimes finds her own emotions overwhelming and confusing.
Mila only shows her "true colors" to those that she trusts, and can be secretive even to those. She is still a bit of a perfectionist, and is overly critical of herself, while she appears very judgmental of others. She despises criminals above all else, and this attributed to her deep depression before her father's real killer was revealed- thinking herself the murderer, she lived her life "punishing" herself for it. She doubts herself quite frequently, sometimes slipping into melancholic depression. These feelings, however, are starting to leave her after the discovery that Von Karma was the true murderer of her father. Due to her father's murder, however, she has several lasting phobias- slight claustrophobia, a strong distaste of elevators, a fear of the dark, and a paralyzing fear of earthquakes. She has frequent nightmares, even still, centering around her father's murder, and is subject to self-imposed sleep deprivation which has led to insomnia. Following the revelation that she was not, in fact, the murderer of the father, Mila is coming to terms with the innocent suspects she successfully and sometimes knowingly prosecuted (all for the sake of her own "perfect" record).
She does, however, have a few hobbies in life that she enjoys. Mila is a tea connoisseur, and has tea every afternoon (at least). She also (secretly) enjoys watching The Steel Samurai, a children's program. Mila also enjoys driving, sometimes overly recklessly, in her red sports car. She rather enjoys learning everything that she can, especially on her favorite subjects- Truth and Justice. Her other passion in life is the study of law, namely international law.
Physical Strengths: Mila is an accomplished fencer, but that's about it. She's a fairly normal human in other physical respects.
Psychological Strengths: She's very even-headed and logical, and is extremely intelligent- able of thinking circles around most people. She speaks English, German, French, Arabic, and Spanish fluently, and is working on learning Chinese and Russian at the moment (minus the German, these are the official languages of the United Nations). she is currently leaning Borginian, after spending a bit of time in the country.
Physical Weaknesses: As I said, she's a normal human. She has no special abilities, and isn't an amazing athlete, either.
Psychological Weaknesses: Mila is clinically depressed, and suffers panic attacks related to her father's murder. She has several strong phobias, as noted above.
History: Mila's mother died when she was six, due to cancer. She was raised in Los Angeles, California, by her father, Gregory Edgeworth, until his death. Young Mila idolized her father, despite his obsession with work keeping her from seeing him too often. When she was 9, she was placed in the same fourth-grade class as Phoenix Wright and Larry Butz. After "defending" Phoenix in a mock classroom trial, the three became friends.
On December 28th, 2001, Mila was accompanying her father in court, when an earthquake shook the courthouse, trapping the two in an elevator with the court bailiff, Yani Yogi. A fight broke out between the hot-tempered Gregory Edgeworth and Yogi, and Mila attempted to fend off Yogi by throwing the bailiff's gun at him. The gun misfired, sending a bullet flying that she assumed was the one that lodged in her father's heart, killing him. After the shot, oxygen deprivation set in, and Mila collapsed. When she awoke, her father was dead, and she was transferred into state custody. She testified at Yogi's trial, lying on the stand and claiming that Yogi was the one who shot her father. In the end, Yogi's attorney, Robert Hammond, had him plead temporary insanity, and Yogi was not convicted.
Five months later, Manfred Von Karma (her father's bitter rival) returned from a supposed "vacation" and took Mila in as his legal ward. He relocated her to Germany, and she grew up in Germany with his elder daughter Sophie and younger daughter Franziska. Manfred saw to it that Mila and Franziska were trained as prosecutors, and Mila began prosecuting in Germany at the young age of fifteen. She idolized her mentor, and even took on his fashion sense and mannerisms.
When she was twenty, Mila finally returned to the United States. Her first case stateside was State -vs- Fawles, and would have been considered a victory if Fawles had not poisoned himself before the tiral could be concluded. The media blamed Mila for Fawles' death, and she gained the moniker "Demon Prosecutor". She continued prosecuting under the supervision of Von Karma, and eventually managed to maintain a perfect record, despite slipping deeply into depression and having the nagging feeling that what she was doing, misleading the court and using questionable evidence, was wrong.
It was then that the letters started to arrive, missives from her old friend Phoenix Wright. Mila didn't answer them, sometimes not even reading the letters before she hid them from Von Karma. Her mentor, trusting that he didn't need to supervise her constantly, returned to Germany at this time, leaving Mila alone in Los Angeles.
Two years later, Mila was involved in the State -vs- Darke case, in which a serial killer was accused of murdering her rival, High Prosecutor Lana Skye. Mila was presented with incomplete evidence, but winning the case secured her the promotion to the position of Chief Prosecutor. She worked closely with Police Chief Damon Gant during this time, but took very little enjoyment in her work. In fact, she was quite miserable for two years. Her only purpose, so she thought, was to carry out Gant and Von Karma's wishes, and she did so by diving headlong into her work, no matter how miserable it made her. Her winning tactics got dirtier, and she began to use forged evidence in trial only to further her perfect record.
Then came State -vs- Fey, and her first face-off against Phoenix Wright. She lost, but returned for another trial against Wright, hoping to best him. She, of course, lost again, and it made her doubt herself even more. Von Karma, sensing that she was slipping away from him, finally decided to take out his revenge on her, 15 years after her father's death.
Mila was lured out to Gourd Lake and was framed for the murder or Robert Hammond. Considering herself guilty of murder at least once, she declined legal representation for several hours before finally allowing Phoenix Wright to server as her defense.
TO BE CONTINUED WTF MILES, WHY YOU GOTTA HAVE SUCH A LONG HISTORY
...To make a VERY long story short, she decided to choose death directly after 1-4, and is currently visiting Borginia.
